Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government proposes to restructure the public sector oil companies to bring in a great degree of professionalism and make them globally competitive; and

(b) if so, the steps taken in this direction?

(a) The Advisory Committee on Synergy in Energy headed by Dr. V. Krishnamurthy has submitted its report with recommendations on policy and structural changes and has also suggested certain management solutions for improved performance of the oil companies in the public sector.

(b) The recommendations are under consideration of the Government.
